INSTRUMENT RATING Course

Instrument Rating training is when we begin to control the airplane precisely using small control inputs to maintain our course and altitude. Instrument flying is very procedures based, and Madison Flyers offers a ground school course to help learn those procedures and to prepare for the Instrument Rating Knowledge Test.

The flight training portion takes approximately 40 hours, and we strongly recommend one lesson a week at minimum for continuity. Instrument training can in the daytime or evenings, and as soon as the instrument approach procedures have been introduced, we can conduct some of the training in actual instrument conditions. The course is a building block process, as we progress from basic instrument maneuvering to approaches to instrument navigation flights, and concluding with preparation for the Instrument Rating check ride.
